OXFORD MCCU are relishing the chance to host a strong Hampshire side.
The students face the County Championship club in the only first-class game at The Parks from Sunday to Tuesday.
Oxford who drew with Middlesex at Merchant Taylors’ School this week – the first of three matches over a fortnight – are preparing for their MCCU and BUCS campaigns.
And head coach Graham Charlesworth says his players are looking forward to the prospect of facing the likes of Fidel Edwards and James Vince.
“It’s a good game for us,” he said.
“We’re still adapting to being outside and the step up – they’re playing against quality players.
“The word is it’s going to be their first team.
“We’re going to have to change things around to keep the bowlers fresh especially.
“Nine days of cricket in 13 is a lot, but the lads love these games.”
