LEE Anderson handled conditions better than anyone else as Red Lion A Kidlington whitewashed Six Bells E Kidlington, writes ANDY BEAL.

On a dismal night, Anderson (4-5-5) hit 14 dolls as his side cruised to a 3-0 win in Section 2.

Victory looked a long shot when Lion set 17 in the opener and Six Bells reached 13 with three players remaining.

However, they capitulated and could only muster three dolls between them to give Lion an unlikely early advantage.

And they made the most of their lead, winning the next two legs 22-18, 18-15.

Donnington C fell to their first defeat of the season when hosts Gladiators C won a thrilling clash.

Gladiators took the first leg 23-21 and then set 20 in the next, which Donnington edged past with 21.

The final leg was tied 19-19 – and after three sticks could not separate the sides, Gladiators held their nerve to take the one stick shoot-out.

In the Premier Section, Woodman produced a strong team performance to grab maximum points at home to Black Prince.

They won 26-22, 21-17, 28-26 with Charlie Buckingham (3-5-5) top-scoring on 13 dolls.

After losing their first three games of the season, Gladiators A have now had a hat-trick of wins on the bounce, this time triumphing away at Chequers A.

And they did so a player short and giving away a two-doll handicap.

Gladiators set and won the opening leg 22-19, but were pegged back when Chequers took victory on a three-stick shoot-out in the next after a 22-22 draw.

The third leg was also tied, 17-17, with Chequers coming out on top in the three-sticker.

Geoff Townsend (3-6-4) bagged a six in his 13-doll haul for Chequers.

George A ended a four-week losing streak when they got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Swan B.

Champions Swan A still lead the Premier Section after a 2-1 win at Garsington Sports.

Section 3 leaders Gladiators B were made to fight all the way in their 2-1 home victory over Masons Arms A, who won the opening leg 23-19.

Six Bells A Kidlington lost their unbeaten record when losing 3-0 at New Club B despite Ady Cross (5-3-5) clanging off 13 dolls.

Catherine Wheel B’s Andy Loverage saved his team from embarrassment in their Section 4 game at Swan C.

The visitors were chasing a lowly 12 to win the opening leg, and it looked a formality when they had reached ten with three players still to throw.

However, two blobs followed, meaning all the pressure was on anchor man Loverage to save the day.

He did not disappoint, hitting the three required to secure victory.

Catherine Wheel took the next two legs 17-12, 14-11 and secure a 3-0 victory.

Northway C shocked

high-flying Cowley Workers 2-1 and in turn recorded their first win of the season.

Workers took the opener 18-16, but Northway hit back for victory, Jack Lane (4-5-2) starring with 11 dolls.
