AHEAD of each of United's Sky Bet League One games this season, we are looking back at memorable matches against their next opponents.

September 6, 2015: Bristol Rovers 0, Oxford United 1

KEMAR Roofe’s latest wonder goal earned Oxford United a hard-fought win over Bristol Rovers in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

The forward curled a first-time shot off the crossbar from 20 yards in the second half, minutes after Liam Sercombe was sent off as a bad-tempered afternoon saw both sides finish with ten men.

United survived a few scares to claim the points and rise to fourth in Sky Bet League Two, extending their unbeaten league run to 14 games.

Michael Appleton’s side were under pressure from the start at a hostile Memorial Stadium, but were handed an advantage when Rovers midfielder Ollie Clarke was sent off for elbowing Danny Rose on 16 minutes.

They struggled to make the extra man count, although Roofe had a goal ruled out for a Ryan Taylor foul.

Taylor was hauled off early in the second half after being booked, but minutes later Sercombe received his second yellow for a foul on Matty Taylor.

Yet Roofe silenced the noisy home support after 62 minutes, when he picked up Patrick Hoban’s lay-off outside the box and found the net.

The striker was substituted following an awkward fall soon after and Rovers pushed for an equaliser.

But three good saves from U’s keeper Sam Slocombe ensured the visitors held on for an invaluable victory.

Oxford Utd: Slocombe, Baldock, Dunkley, Wright, Skarz, MacDonald, Sercombe, Rose, Roofe (Lundstram), Hylton (Ruffels), Taylor (Hoban).

Attendance: 7,038.
