MATT Williams is urging Chinnor to make Kingsey Road a fortress as they begin their home campaign against Hull Ionians tomorrow.

The Thame-based side head into the third round of the National League 1 season hoping to pick up their second victory.

Chinnor are determined to show a reaction from last weekend’s 26-14 defeat at Richmond and are looking forward to finally performing in front of their home crowd.

They only won five of their 15 games at Kingsey Road in 2018/19 and director of rugby Williams wants to rediscover the form which led to their rise to the third tier.

He said: “Two seasons ago we had a two-and-a-half-year unbeaten home record.

“But last year we were better away than we were at home.

“I’ve challenged the boys to recreate that fortress environment that Kingsey Road can be as it’s a tough place to play when the boys are on song.”

Hull head to Chinnor off the back of heavy defeats to Birmingham Moseley and Darlington Mowden Park.

But Williams has stressed his side will not be taking their Yorkshire visitors lightly.

He said: “Hull have had a tough start to the season, which kind of worries me a little more because at some point there is going to be a reaction.”

Winger Josh Hodson and lock Ehize Ehizode are in contention for their first starts after recovering from injury.

But prop Luc Jeannot (concussion) and scrum-half Callum Watson (groin) are out.

Henley Hawks host Bournemouth in National 2 South looking to maintain their impressive start to the campaign.

The table-toppers have conceded only five points in their pening two matches, scoring 96 points in the process.

Head coach Luke Allen makes three changes, prop George Primett, flanker Scott White and centre George Griffiths coming in with Brad Cook and Tom Hall dropping to the bench and Xav Andre rested.

Witney are without Jake Fisk and Luke Manning for their Southern Counties North clash at home to Chesham.

Tom Gaffney, Dan Beechey, Rob Coe and Scott Mortimer come into the squad.

Injuries to Dan Crook and Dan Coombes mean Rauf Birler and Tom Clipsham start for Grove’s Southern Counties South clash at home to Devizes.

Jack Horrocks and Sam Tokelove are on the bench.
