Oxfordshire Under 13s put in their best performance of a magnificent season as they made it six wins in a row with a last-ball victory against Middlesex at Brondesbury.

Horspath's Hamza Hussain was again the star of the show with the bat, but it was Luke Finch, who had never previously scored a county run, who held his nerve with a final-ball boundary to seal a thrilling win.

After Middlesex won the toss, pinch-hitter Rob Chadwick got them off to a flier as Oxfordshire's seamers struggled before lunch.

The home side reached 130-2 after 25 overs, before skipper Sasha Barras bowled a magnificent spell of left-arm spin as his eight overs went for just 21 to put the brakes on Middlesex.

This set the tone for the rest of the Middlesex innings.

Abdullah Saeed took three wickets in an over as Middlesex closed on 233-5 from their 45 overs.

Oxon lost an early wicket in their reply, but a superb second-wicket stand of 81 between Ruairi Willis and Hussain took Oxon to 99-2 at tea.

Hussain and Curtly Slatter continued the good work after the break with a partnership of 68, with some excellent running, several boundaries, and a massive six from Slatter.

Hussain was eventually caught and bowled for 86, and when Slatter's innings ended on 52, Oxon were still 40 runs adrift.

Connor Morrison, Adam Muttitt and Connor Williams went quickly, but big-hitting Musallen Sadiqi took Oxon to the last over needing eight to win.

With two balls left, Oxon needed seven to win.

Superb running saw Sadiqi score three off the penultimate ball, leaving Finch, to drive through extra cover for four to win an extraordinary game.
