Witney Utd 1 (Smith 64)

Wantage Tn 2 (Guy 89, Claydon 90)

Wantage Town scored twice in the last three minutes to leave Witney stunned in a dramatic Premier Diviison match at the Polythene UK Stadium on Saturday in the FTL Futbol Hellenic League.

Witney, who lost Ben Thompson following a heavy challenge, appeared to be heading for victory, after taking the lead midway through the second half.

Dean Smith swung in a cross from the right flank which deceived Wantage keeper Darryl Simms, who could only palm the ball into the corner ofthe net.

Simms made amends by saving well from Smith and And-rew Younie before Wantage equalised with just one minute of regulation time left.

Matt Biddle forced his way into the Witney penalty area and clipped a neat cross into the path of Richie Guy, who headed past Richard Barrett.

Wantage were happy with a point, but with three minutes gone in injury time, they snatched the winner.

Tom Austin’s innocuous through ball was spilled by Barrett and Richard Claydon was on hand to turn the ball into an empty net.

A POOR pitch was to blame as the teams fought out a goalless draw.

However, Shrivenham should have collected the points as striker Blain Fitzgerald missed a host of chances. The visitors’ keeper Tom McNamara saved twice from Fitzgerald in the first half, and the striker wasted other great opportunities.

Kidlington had their best chance of the match just before half-time.

Jimmy Deabill kneed a bouncing ball on to a post. It cannoned to Adam Lovegrove, whose shot was well saved by Shrivenham keeper Luke Alford.

Hook Norton 1 (Moulder 2)

Ascot Utd 6 (Mills 10, 12, McIntyre 30, Lunn 38, 47, Bennett 90)

When Pete Moulder coolly slotted the ball into the Ascot United net in the second minute running on to a keeper Joe White’s long ball, it seemed that Hook Norton’s lean spell may be coming to an end.

But it was not to be. Within ten minutes they were trailing as defensive lapses let Richard Mills score twice Further goals from Sam McIntyre and Andy Lunn made it 4-1 at half-time.

Lunn scored again shortly after the break.

Ascot eased up before being awarded a penalty in the last minute for a foul by Ashley Prentice.

Jon Bennett scored from the resultant spot-kick.
