Full back Will Browne scored a brace of tries to set Oxford University on the way to a 17-12 victory against London Scottish at Richmond Athletic Ground on Monday night.
Browne burst through to open the scoring for the Dark Blues after ten minutes, with fly half Ross Swanson landing the conversion.
Fifteen minutes later he repeated the dose, with Swanson again adding the extra two points to make it 14-0 at half-time.
London Scottish reduced the deficit with a converted try after 53 minutes.
But Swanson then kicked a penalty to give the students breathing space.
London Scottish hit back with an interception try five minutes from time, but the conversion was missed and Oxford held on for a deserved victory.
