BB&O Round-up

ALCHESTER were effectively crowned Premier Division champions after a 37-30 victory at Swindon College.

The win and Slough’s 21-21 draw with Thatcham mean Alchester need just one point to be sure of the title, but their points difference looks to be enough anyway.

Prop Garrick Kimber and wing Andy Blacklock ran in try doubles, lock Matt Dye also crossing. Centre Tom Miles kicked three conversions and two penalties.

Gosford All Blacks almost recovered from 37-24 down in a 37-34 defeat at Phoenix.

Gosford’s try scorers were scrum half Tim Elllis (3), No 8 Alex Webb, centre Jack Briggs and fly half Harry Sutton, with Ellis converting two.

Phoenix scored tries through No 8 James Constable (2), flanker Duncan Wardle, prop Ed Dibb and wing Adam McMillan, while fly half Will Balltyne slotted 12 points.

Bicester were punished for their poor set-piece work in a 17-11 defeat at Stow-on-the-Wold.

Visiting scrum half Steve Risbridger missed two kickable penalties, but centre Dan Spencer landed two and a late try.

Stow’s scorers were Ed Fanshawe and Tom Davies, both converted by Dan Adams, who added a penalty.

Littlemore were leading Farnham Royal 24-7 thanks to tries from Darren Massey (2), Jim Smith and Dean Andrews, plus two Lee Gillett conversions, when the referee abandoned their Division 1 South clash due to indiscipline.

Hosts Littlemore claimed Farnham instigated the fighting and hope the result will stand.

Paul Costello scored a try, five conversions and a penalty, while Paul Parlett, Ben McLoughlin, Joe Leverson and John Stephens also crossed as Didcot beat Reading 3rd 38-12 in Division 2 South.
