Sam Cheshire notched his second ton of the campaign as Banbury 2nd crushed Aston Rowant 2nd by ten wickets and so returned to the top of the Division 2 table in the MP Sports Cherwell League.

Joe Brown’s 46 gave Row-ant’s bowlers a total to defend, although Paul Hill (4-53) ensured this was only 163.

Cheshire was exactly 100 not out and Andrew Sabin undefeated on 54 when Banbury clinched victory in the 36th over.

Matt Maule took 5-34 as Tiddington hammered morning leaders Long Marston, who had won their previous four.

Tiddington opener Darren Risden batted through to the 47th over before giving his first chance – and being caught for 117. Pete Toovey took 5-72 for Marston, but his side still had to chase 237 for victory.

Only No 9 Rory Miscampbell (37) halted the home side’s victory march, which ended in the 36th over when Marston were all out for 144.

Ryan Gordon hit a fine 121 to set up Challow & Childrey’s declaration on 229-6 at Banbury Twenty, Jak Soppett claiming 5-112.

Twenty soon fell behind the required rate, but the bottom club held out on 182-8.

Sandford St Martin debutant Siphe Mzayidume took 7-47 and top-scored with 39, but received no support as his side lost by 108 runs at home to Abingdon Vale.

The South African import reduced Vale to 54-4 before Graham Charlesworth (77) and Michael Cook (63) took the visitors to 215 all out.

Charlesworth then took three quick wickets and Cook claimed the next three to put Sandford in trouble, and despite some late resistance they were all out for 107.

Wolverton Town beat Great Brickhill with surprising ease as the visitors slipped to their first defeat since the opening day.

Wasim Fayyaz took 5-34 as Brickhill were bowled out for 153.

Sean Potter then helped himself to 65 and Aky Hussain to 51 not out as Town suffered few alarms in reaching 156-3.
