Great & Little Tew 2nd kept up their promotion challenge in Division 4 of the MP Sports Cherwell League with an eight-wicket win at home to struggling Stokenchurch.

Piers Myatt took 5-32 from 14 overs to rip the heart out of the visitors’ batting line-up as they were rolled over for 124.

Only Laurence Schriber (38) held up Tew for long.

After tea, the hosts made short work of reaching 127-2, Robbie Catling leading the way with 37 and Sammy Licence making 35 not out.

Cumnor 2nd had leaders Chearsley in big trouble on 50-5, but let them off the hook as they went on to reach 190-7.

Mark Kirsten (71) was back to his stylish best for the home side, but Ken Baker (4-53) and Ed Holland (4-66) worked their way steadily through the card to dismiss them for 141.

Shaun Cross hit 62 and 15-year-old Liam Hare 55 as Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd racked up an impressive 230-8 at Leighton Buzzard Town 2nd.

Andy Hipwell was easily the pick of the home side’s attack, taking 6-56 from 19 overs.

Gareth Benger (73) kept Town in the hunt, but Joe Cockroft (5-59) proved too good for half the home batsmen as they were all out for 195.

Matt Thatcher (80), Callum Cater (60no) and Graham Judd (43) were all on song as Buckingham Town 2nd powered to an impressive 257-5 at home to Kimble.

Kevin Clark then captured an impressive 5-12 as the visitors were bundled out for 107.

It was Town’s first home win of the season.
