A combined Varsity team with boxers from both Oxford and Cambridge Universities will be in action at the Oxford Union on Saturday, November 26 when they host Waseda University, Japan.

The match is a return from three years ago when the Blues visited the Asian country.

Billed as ‘Fight for Japan’, the clash also celebrates Oxford’s 130th anniversary of its founding. “This is a tremendous night for Oxford University ABC, with the traditional Varsity rivalry set aside,” said Oxford University coach Dave Mace.

“The Japanese lads were tremendous hosts and now it is our turn to repay the compliment.”

The first of the scheduled tickets, which are priced at £12 upwards, are now on sale at Elmer Cotton Sports in Turl Street, Oxford.

Proceeds from the showpiece event are being donated to the Japanese Earthquake Disaster Fund.
