Leanne Reeves, of Wallingford, fared well in the first trial for the 2012 Great Britain junior (under 18) teams at Boston, Linconshire on Saturday.

Among the youngest of the 89 girls competing, Reeves finished in a respectable 14th place, putting her in strong contention for a place next summer.

The next stage of the selection process takes place in February.

Meanwhile, Wallingford gained two victories in the Kingston Small Boats Head on a 4,800m course from Hampton Court to Stevens Eyot.

Brianna Stubbs and Caroline Greves won the women’s intermediate 1 double category.

Clubmate Christina Heems-kerk was the fastest intermediate 1 single of the day with Greves coming second.

Wallingford will be hosting their Head of the River event this Sunday – the only pre-Christmas Head to offer competition in eights.

Some 283 crews will compete in the two offered divisions, one at 10.30am and one at 1.30pm.
