Burford School celebrated a double in the West Oxfordshire District Under 15 and Under 14 Cup finals at Witney RFC.

They lifted the Under 15 Cup with a 22-20 victory over Marlborough School, Woodstock, and also captured the Under 14 Cup by beating Chipping Norton 25-10.

Centre Jay Serador scored a hat-trick of tries for Burford in the under 15 final, but with time running out they were trailing 20-15 as Marlborough led through tries from Iestyn James (2), Declan Bell and Joe Martingale-Morris.

But centre Dan Crook burst through to score Burford’s fourth try after good work by No 8 Chris Godfrey, and captain Luke Crisp kicked the winning conversion.

Burford scored all five of their tries in the first half to set up victory in the under 14 final.

Harvey Dodman-Edwards (2), Oliver Toner, Tom Renwick and man-of-the-match Gareth Jenkins crossed the Chipping Norton line before the break.

Jacob Lesley-Turner bagged a brace of tries for Chipping Norton in the second half.

Burford go for more glory in the Oxfordshire Cup finals at Oxford RFC on Tuesday (2pm).

They face Faringdon in the under 15 final and Magdalen College School, Oxford in the under 14 decider.

Wood Green, Witney swept aside King Alfred’s, Wantage 41-5 in the Oxfordshire Under 19 Vase semi-final.

George Fagg, Ryan McKay, Ben Osman, Murray Cox, Calise Bahou, Ben Fisk and Stuart Williams scored tries for Wood Green, with Chris Edwards kicking three conversions.

Wood Green now play d’Overbroecks College, Oxford in the final at Oxford RFC on Wednesday, December 7.

ABINGDON School won 33-3 at Pangbourne College in the Daily Mail Under 18 Schools’ Cup fourth round.

Magdalen College School triumphed 24-7 at home to Claires Court, Maidenhead in the Daily Mail Under 18 Schools’ Vale fourth round.

Corne Vermaak, James Bennington, Andy Willis and Edmund Robins scored tries, with Vermaak kicking two conversions.
