OXFORD suffered their second straight loss of their Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 1 campaign after a five-wicket defeat at the hands of High Wycombe.
Ian Crosby’s side never recovered from losing two wickets without a run on the board as they were shot out for 140 in 45.4 overs.
Francois Vainker top-scored with 33 as the hosts struggled against Sohail Hussain, who finished with 5-35.
Early wickets were going to be vital if Oxford were going to get anything from the game, but missed chances proved vital as the visitors made steady inroads into their target.
Vainker was the only bowler to inflict any serious damage, completing a good all-round match with 4-37.
But an unbeaten half-century from opener Matt Eyles (52no) saw Wycombe pass their target in the 43rd over.
