ABINGDON Vale bowled out Aston Rowant 2nd for only 81 and then did their best to throw away their advantage.

Graham Charlesworth bowled with great control for Vale to claim 5-27, while left-arm seamer Danny Hartley chipped in with 3-11.

The visitors then went for their shots, but Ben Mills’s 3-17 was not quite enough to prevent them reaching 84-7.

Challow & Childrey were bowled out for 67 last week and fared little better at the weekend, succumbing for only 89 against Oxford 2nd.

Richard Beer swung the ball to great effect in taking 5-33, while Jack Stimpson (3-18) also bowled well.

Earlier, Oxford had made 207-7 thanks to useful contributions from Joe Porter (78) and Taylor Beatty (38no).

Newly-promoted Twyford’s first match of the season ended in an easy win at Sandford St Martin.

Washed out last week, they dismissed Sandford for 128 thanks to Sam Roberts (3-28) and Bilal Afzal (3-46).

Shahid Mahmood then hit an unbeaten 56 and Tanveer Nadeem 36 not out in the visitors’ 131-2.

Oxford Downs 2nd were rolled over for 129 in a five-wicket defeat at Tiddington.

Jon Talbot (3-14), Nathan Brooks (3-31) and Sam Hollingshead (3-37) shone as only James Florey (30) put up much resistance.

Will Cooper (60) and Will Goodman (34) put the result beyond doubt, which meant Luke List’s 3-39 was in vain.

Pete Toovey followed up his 6-33 on the opening day by taking 5-41 for Long Marston, but Wolverton Town still prevailed by three wickets.

Mick Lyons made 41 in Marston’s 87, Haroon Malik (3-20), Shahzad Mohammad (3-23) and John Mulholland (3-26) all enjoying success.

Atif Akhlaq (31) top-scored in Town’s 90-7.
