GOALKEEPER Charlie Pay was the hero as St Birinus, Didcot, lifted the Oxfordshire Under 15 Cup 6-5 in a sudden death penalty shoot-out against Cooper, Bicester, at Thame United.
Pay’s save gave St Birinus the cup after his teammates, Jason McCabe, Ross Tanner, Jay Mace, Scott Grove, Jack Kitchener and Alex Marshall had scored from the spot.
Tom Bosher, Dan Keen, Lewis Garcia, Declan Peart and Matt Price were Cooper’s successful penalty-takers.
The final had finished 2-2 after extra time with McCabe firing St Birinus into a two-goal lead in the first half.
Ben Cooke pulled one back with a penalty before half-time, and scored again in the second half to force extra time.
