MIKE Higgs is backing Thame Town’s batsmen to come good when they host Farnham Royal in Division 2 West tomorrow.

Thame have been dismissed for 56 and 109 in their two defeats so far, leaving them bottom of the table.

But captain Higgs, who has named an unchanged XI, said: “We have got some some good batsmen and I’m sure we will improve.

“We are hoping that with the drier weather our pitch will be a lot better for the batsmen and winning the toss will help.

“Things can only get better.”

Shipton-under-Wychwood add batsman Steve Bates to their squad for the trip to Harefield.

Having won on their belated debut last week, Shipton captain Simon Hole is targeting more of the same.

“Fingers crossed, we can win again,” said Hole.

“We are playing against teams we don’t know anything about, so it is a good challenge.

“Harefield have been in this league for a couple of years now. I’m sure it will be a good game.”

All-rounder Nick Ferraby returns in place of Tom Needham for Aston Rowant’s trip to Cove, near Farnborough.

Rowant will be looking to build on last week’s victory over Farnham Royal.
