BANBURY face the first real test of their Division 1 title credentials tomorrow when they visit champions High Wycombe.

Ian Hawtin’s side top the table after two wins from two matches and are full of confidence.

But the skipper accepts he will know more about his team’s potential after playing second-placed Wycombe.

“We have done really well for the first two games, but this will be a good test for us,” said Hawtin.

“We are confident at the moment, but we need to remember that we have only played two games.”

Banbury make one change to the side which beat Burnham last time out.

Ollie Wright replaces fellow seamer Ashley Blanchard, who will play in the seconds as work commitments mean he cannot make the 11am start.

Banbury have won after setting a big total against Bishop’s Stortford in their opening match and then bowled with real discipline to dismiss Burnham for 108.

Hawtin said: “We have had two different sorts of games, but we’ve played well in both.

“There is a good team spirit and everybody is enjoying themselves.”

Seamer Brad Sutherland misses Oxford’s trip to Potters Bar as his wife is due to give birth.

This means former Banbury and Oxfordshire player Jaimie Noble comes in for his debut.

With Potters Bar propping up the table, Oxford captain Ian Crosby said it was a great chance for his second-from-bottom side to get up and running.

“It is a good chance to get a positive result,” said Crosby.

“Last week at Wycombe was a big toss to lose and unfortunately I lost it.

“We were probably about 50 runs short of making it a good game.

“We are still pretty upbeat and positive. This is definitely a winnable game.

“Hopefully, the drier conditions will suit our three spinners.”

Paceman Stuart Hole is due to make his first appearance of the season next Saturday, but young seamer Tom Geeson-Brown’s knee injury will keep him out for four to six weeks.
