OXFORD City have been placed in Blue Square Bet North next season - a move which will hit the club hard in the pocket.

City, who won promotion from the Southern League Premier Division, were hoping to get a place in the Blue Square Bet South Division.

But Kettering's resignation from the league yesterday saw Maidenhead given a reprieve - meaning City were pushed into the northern league.

It will mean they will face trips to the likes of Chester, Halifax, Harrogate and Workington - the latter a 550-mile round trip.
