OXFORDSHIRE’S junior girls won one and lost one in their annual matches against Hampshire and Berkshire.

The team, captained by Abi Laker (Frilford Heath), ran out 4½-2½ winners against Hamshire at Badgemore Park, Henley.

But they fared less well at East Berks, where Imogen Vessey (Chipping Norton) led the side.

Berkshire finished on top, winning 5-2 – with Kirtlington rookie Elisha Gujral and Caitlin Shaw, from Burford, claiming the two points for the visitors.

Oxon’s next match is against Bucks at Studley Wood on June 24.

A trip to Mexico is in the sights of two pairings who have made it through to the second round of the Virgin Atlantic PGA National Pro-Am Championship.

The winners of the 16 regional finals this summer will earn a place in the 36-hole grand final at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in Cancun.

Up first are Frilford Heath professional Derek Craik, 41, and 45-year-old Oxford-based amateur Paul Dolton.

After winning their club qualifying competition they will attempt to claim the regional crown at Camberley Heath on June 11.

North Oxford will be represented by their professional Lee Jackson, 38, and amateur Tony Nichols, 59, from Kidlington.

Their chance to book a place in December’s final will come at Frilford Heath on July 30.
