OXFORD Lions beat Team United Birmingham 5-2 to win the Futsal Community Shield at the FA National Grassroots Football Show in Birmingham.
It means that in their debut season, Lions’ roll of honour has been extended to Midlands League champions, FA Futsal Grand finalists and Futsal Community Shield winners.
Meanwhile, the club have announced that they have agreed to merge with Oxford City Football Club to become Oxford City Lions Futsal Club.
It is hoped that the partnership will provide a solid base for the growth of futsal in Oxfordshire.
Lions will now wear the famous hooped shirt of City for their home fixtures, which will, however, still take place at the Park Sports Centre, Wheatley as part of their partnership with Nexus Community.
