Oxford Saints completed their regular BAFA Community League season with a convincing 17-6 win at rivals Bournemouth Bobcats.

The win puts Oxford second in the overall seeding for the play-offs.

Having beaten Bobcats on the last two occasions they have met this year, the newly-crowned Division 2 West Conference champions, made it three in a row with a super display.

Mike Oluwole and Chris Ellis punched early holes in the Bobcats’ defence, before quarter-back Ali Galbraith’s throw set up Sam Armstrong and the receiver burst through two tackles to touch down from 26 yards. Jonny Dover grabbed the point to give Oxford a 7-0 lead.

However, the visiotrs were rocked on their heels when Klynton Dyer charged into the endzone from 11 yards for an unconverted touchdown after Oluwele’s attempted throw was intercepted.

A 37-yard Dover field goal eased Saints’ nerves, before Chris Ellis extended their advantage to 16-6 when he outran the Bobcats pursuit to the endzone from 12 yards out..

Dover then landed his third kick out of three to seal it for Saints.

Oxford are next in action on Sunday when they host Milton Keynes Pathfinders in the play-off quarter-final at Abingdon RFC.
