Oxford City boss Mike Ford is looking for old boys Michael Alexis and Andy Gunn to shine when they travel to Rugby Town for tomorrow’s friendly.

The pair have been training and playing for City after leaving Hemel Hempstead Town and Cirencester Town respectively and are keen to return to Court Place Farm.

“They have done okay and will get the opportunity at Rugby,” said Ford.

“I want their performances to say to me ‘I want to be in the squad for the start of the season’.”

Meanwhile, City have released keeper Dan Platt, their summer signing from Evesham.

Ford explained: “I need someone with more experience to cope with what will be thrown at us.

“He is a fantastic keeper, but I am looking for the finished article.”

Didcot Town defender Alex Stanley has left to join Hungerford Town.

Stanley, who captained the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West club last season, made more than 130 appearances for the Railwaymen, scoring ten goals, after joining in 2009.

Meanwhile, Didcot face a trip to Woodford United in the first round of the Red Insure Cup on October 16.

North Leigh have been drawn away to Southern League Premier Division side Banbury United while Abingdon United host Daventry Town.

Abingdon boss Richie Bourne has appointed ex-Thatcham Town manager Gary Ackling to his coaching staff.

“When he agreed (to sign) I was delighted,” said Bourne. “I will be using all his experience and knowledge to help improve the team.”

KIDLINGTON have signed Oxford City youngster Zach McEachran.

McEachran, 17, the younger brother of Chelsea’s Josh, who has been training with North Leigh, joins George Morris, strikers Alex and Jonathan Feaver.

The Premier Division club kick off their Uhlsport Hellenic League campaign on Tuesday away to Holyport.
