BANBURY United have signed former Didcot Town striker John Mills on a three-month loan from Vanarama National League South side Bath City.

The frontman boosts the Puritans’ attacking options and could make his debut tomorrow at Biggleswade Town in Premier Division Central of the Evo-Stik South League.

Mills played against Banbury, who are fifth in the table, in an Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round tie a fortnight ago.

And manager Mike Ford is delighted to sign the 28-year-old.

He said: “The current group of players have given us a good start to the season, but I felt that the time was right to introduce some freshness to the squad.

“When John became available it was a no brainer to bring in a player of his pedigree.

“I believe he will boost our goalscoring capabilities, make our existing players better and help us compete at the top end of the table.”

Mills caught the eye during two prolific seasons with Didcot, scoring 79 goals for the Railwaymen before joining Hereford in 2015.

He netted 140 times as the Bulls won three successive promotions and signed for Bath in the summer.

The striker has scored twice for the Vanarama National League South outfit, but ten of his 14 appearances have been as a substitute.
