ANACLET Odhiambo’s late strike saw Kidlington Royals seal a cup double with a 1-0 win over Oxford Sports & Social Club in the Critchleys Upper Thames Valley League's Hedley Toms/ Michael Brown Memorial Trophy final, writes TIM SIRET.

Having beaten the same opponents 3-2 in the Oxfordshire FA Sam Waters Sunday Cup final two weeks ago, Royals added to their collection of silverware – although this was a relatively disappointing affair.

It wasn’t until the 80th minute that the deadlock was broken when Odhiambo squeezed between two defenders to convert Jelroy Constant’s pass.

Freeland Yeoman reached their first final with a 5-1 home win over Sporting Headington Academicals in the Ridgeway Cup.

Danny Taylor’s double, which included a penalty, plus strikes from Simon Calley, Lewis White and Conor Allmond saw Freeland power through, with Ben Wright providing Sporting’s lone reply.

Freeland’s opponents in the final at Abingdon Town on Sunday (6pm) will be Northway Boys & Girls Res, who squeezed past a spirited Woodstock Wanderers 2-1.

Goals from Martino Ventriglia and Joey Beauchamp saw Northway edge through, with Jimmy Bannister netting for Woodstock.

With Oxford Sports & Social Club needing just a point to be crowned Premier League champions, AFC Jericho boosted their challenge for the runners-up spot with a 5-1 win at rivals Kings Arms Wheatley.

Kyle Pullen and Kyle Perry bagged braces with the latter’s double including a penalty. Jack Hayhurst was also on target, while Benji Cuff netted for Kings Arms.

Railway Wheatley were leading 5-0 at Rutherford Lab in Division 1 when the match was abandoned after 70 minutes with the hosts left with only six fit players.

Rutherford started with nine men, but were further depleted by injuries as the game went on, leaving them with less than the minimum requirement of seven. However, league officials have decided that the result will stand.

Tom Williams and Dan Smith scored twice, with Aaron Laman also on target.

In Division 2, Sutton Wanderers drew 4-4 at home to Abingdon Exiles, with hat-trick heroes on both sides.

Chris Stringer grabbed a treble for Wanderers, with Matt Hammond also scoring, while John Hudson helped himself to a trio for Exiles, with Graham Bettles hitting the other.
