OXFORD United beat Oxford City 2-0 to lift the Oxfordshire Women’s County Cup.

Second-half goals from Ellie Noble and Flo Fyfe saw the U’s claim glory in front of a crowd of 257 at Court Place Farm.

Played in unseasonably warm hot conditions, the pace of the game was slow as both sides took time to acclimatise.

It took United until the 21st minute to test City’s goalkeeper, Nat Morris getting down well to keep out a Cheryl Williams shot.

The U’s went close on two more occasions before the break, Emily Allen’s overhead kick drifting just wide and Fyfe’s shot finding the side-netting.

City produced their first meaningful attack at the start of the second half.

April England fizzed in a cross which just eluded Tizzy Russell-Cartwright.

However, City’s resistance was finally broken in the 67th minute.

A cross from Allen was met by Noble, who had found space at the back post for a simple tap-in.

Morris and her defence continued to perform heroics to keep out United’s strike-force.

But the U’s once again found a way through with ten minutes remaining.

It was another Allen cross that did the damage.

This time her ball into the area reached Fyfe, who finished with a spectacular half-volley.

City tried in vain to pull a goal back and seal a thrilling climax.

But they could not find their way through a determined United side, who saw out time to ensure it was to be their name on the cup.
