EDDIE Pepperell's excellent form on the European Tour continued with a terrific opening round at the Turkish Airlines Open.

The Abingdon golfer, who has had five top-ten finishes in his last six outings, shot a five-under par 66.

It put him in a share of sixth place, two shots off the lead held jointly by Nicolas Colsaerts, Joost Luiten and Haydn Porteous.

Starting at the 11th, the Frilford Heath member birdied his first two holes and picked up another at the 16th to reach the turn at three-under par.

The 26-year-old's solitary bogey came at the third, but it was quickly wiped out by a three at the par-four fourth.

And he continued to climb the leaderboard with further birdies at the sixth and ninth.
