EDDIE Pepperell endured a frustrating second round in the Czech Masters.

The Abingdon golfer followed his six-under-par first round 66 with a 71 yesterday, despite being well-placed just after the turn.

Three birdies in the first

ten holes of his second round put Pepperell firmly in the hunt on nine under par, three shots off the lead.

At that stage, there were thoughts that he could still snatch the victory which would take him close to securing an automatic place in the Europe team for next month’s Ryder Cup in Paris.

But a bogey at the 12th and a double-bogey at the

par-three 16th saw him plummet down the field, before he birdied the last for a 71.

Meanwhile, Tadmarton Heath’s Liam Robinson, making a rare appearance in a European Tour event, missed the cut by nine shots.

The son of former Oxford United defender Les Robinson followed his level-par 72 with a 77 in the second round.

He dropped six shots in two holes with a double-bogey on his sixth and then fired a

quadruple-bogey at the next, the same hole that later caused Pepperell problems.
