Eddie Pepperell's Ryder Cup hopes are over - as expected.
The Abingdon golfer had to win last week's European Tour event in Denmark to secure automatic qualification to play in Paris later this month.
Having finished down the field, Pepperell's only remaining hope was to be one of the four wildcard picks.
But that was always a huge long-shot, and Europe captain Thomas Bjorn today confirmed the Frilford Heath member would not be a shock inclusion, instead selecting Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, Paul Casey and Henrik Stenson.
The news was no surprise to Pepperell, who tweeted, tongue-in-cheek, after the Denmark tournament: "Well, no Ryder Cup this year for me which is a shame because I was really looking forward to winning zero points."
