EDDIE Pepperell’s chances of playing in the latter stages of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship are in the balance.
The Abingdon golfer shot a one-under-par 71 at Carnoustie today, leaving him on the brink of the cut line which will be determined after tomorrow’s third round.
Pepperell, three-over after his first round, made a birdie at the first, but then hit a double bogey at the second.
Two birdies and two bogeys in his next nine holes left the Frilford Heath member down the field, but he came alive with an eagle on the 12th.
Another birdie and bogey followed, leaving him needing a solid display at St Andrews tomorrow to make the final round.
