EDDIE Pepperell birdied his final hole to get back to level par in the first round at the Omega European Masters.

The golfer from Abingdon carded a 70 in his first appearance at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland since 2016.

Starting at the tenth, he immediately dropped a shot.

Pepperell responded with a birdie at the 12th, but he reached the turn at one-over after bogeys on the 14th and 17th sandwiched a birdie on the 15th.

The Frilford Heath member picked up a shot at the par three third, before slipping to one-over for the fourth time in the round with a bogey on the eighth.

But the shot was clawed back on the par five ninth, to ensure he will start on level par when his second round begins at 12.20pm on Friday.
