MASTERCHEF finalist Andrew Kojima will give demonstrations at a food fair in Banbury next month.

The 33-year-old got into the last three in last year’s show and will attend Banbury Food Fair on Sunday, August 19.

The chef, food writer and cookery teacher will give demonstrations at noon and 1pm at the Pudding Pie Cookery School marquee.

It will be the first time Banbury Town Council has organised the fair, to include more than 60 stalls.

It will include a session based on TV’s Ready Steady Cook, where contestants battle to prepare a dish against the clock.

Council leader Kieron Mallon said: “The Food Fair is an exciting venture for the town council.

“To get a celebrity chef, who many people will have watched on TV, is a great coup.”

Meanwhile, the council has urged gardeners not to be put off by the recent rain for a flower and produce show the same day.

The Banbury Flower and Produce Show, in its sixth year, will also be held in Market Place alongside the food fair.

Mr Mallon said: “This year’s weather conditions have had a detrimental effect on our gardens and allotments, but we should look on the bright side.

“There are still going to be winners. As in normal growing years, some exhibits will be better than others and gardeners should not be concerned – even if they think their produce is not up to the usual standard.”
