THE Marquis of Blandford had his driving ban cut today — despite a catalogue of “appalling” offences.
James Spencer-Churchill, 54, of Wootton Down Farm, near Woodstock, will be free to drive again from midnight on Wednesday, March 31, on the condition he passes an extended driving test.
The descendant of Sir Winston Churchill, who will become the next Duke of Marlborough, will also have to supply the licensing agency with a medical report.
Judge Anthony King reduced the driving ban at Oxford Crown Court from four years to three after agreeing Mr Spencer Churchill had “changed” in the two years since his conviction.
In September 2007, Mr Spencer-Churchill was jailed for six months after admitting one charge of careless driving and another of criminal damage in relation to a road rage incident on the A4095, a charge of dangerous driving on the A4260, and a further charge of dangerous driving on the M42 near Birmingham.
All three offences happened between June 2006 and January 2007.
