MIAMI: Tropical Storm Alberto swept ashore in northern Florida
yesterday with driving rain and 60 mph winds, drenching the holiday
plans of thousands of tourists and local residents. There were no
reports of injuries from the storm, which downed power lines, uprooted
palm trees and flooded low-lying streets, according to emergency
management workers.
