Oxfordshire Boys’ 11 & under team lost 2-1 to Essex in the Lionel Cox Trophy Eastern region final. Abingdon’s Connor Ferguson (centre) won his matches, but George Slater (Yarnton, right) and Standlake’s Ollie Broadhurst lost out. Oxon’s 12 & under girls were fourth and 12 & under boys fifth.

CONNOR Ferguson, from Abingdon, won the 10 & under title at the Nottingham Grade 2 event – a national level competition that includes the top 32 players in the country. Ferguson did not drop a set until the final where he beat Toby Samuel, from Bourne-mouth, in three sets.

Oxford Sports B and Benson A both secured promotion from Men’s Division 2 in the Oxfordshire Thames Valley Winter League after playing out a 4-4 draw. The pair finished the season on 66 points.
