LUKE Skywalker crossed lightsabers with university "eggheads" this week with an exclusive question and answer session at Oxford Union.

Mark Hamill, who is famous for playing Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars films, delighted fans with tales of his acting career before inviting the audience to answer questions.

He tweeted before the event: "Ready to answer questions from Oxford Union eggheads - go easy on me, I know Wookiees better than math!"

Mr Hamill laughed and joked with the packed-out audience on Wednesday evening, even acting out a dialogue between his character Luke Skywalker and Batman's nemesis The Joker, much to the delight of the audience.

Staff at the Oxford Union said the 'question of the evening' was undoubtedly; "Who would win in a fight between one Wookiee and five Ewoks?", which Mr Hamill said was 'unanswerable'.

During the night Oxford Union also sent out a tweet saying: "Mr Hamill himself is in the Chamber! The Force is with the Oxford Union, and the lightsabers are also out in force!"

The actor also spoke during the night about going to university, saying: "My motivation for going to college was to avoid being drafted into Vietnam. I wanted to play a soldier, not be a soldier."
