Global sales of the Cowley-built Mini rose by more than three per cent in April, fuelled by major growth in its key British market.
A total of 24,581 vehicles were delivered in April, with sales in Great Britain and Ireland soaring by 43.6 per cent to 3,393 cars.
Parent company BMW also reported that the new Paceman car launched in mid-March had enjoyed a successful start with 1,500 sales.
But worldwide sales of 90,737 cars for the year to date are still 1.4 per cent behind the 92,005 recorded in the same period last year.
