THE richest people with Oxfordshire connections to appear on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List were the owners of Oxford London Airport, David and Simon Reuben They came 16th in the list of the nation’s 1,000 richest people with a fortune of £5.532bn, just ahead of Virgin tycoon Sir Richard Branson, who lives in Kidlington, and is 18th.

Former Oxford United chairman Firoz Kassam was 308th with £201m, or £21m more than last year. The Duke of Marlborough, of Blenheim Palace, was at 923 with £70m.

Sir Frank Williams, 68, head of Formula One team Williams F1, is 967th with £65m after he sold a stake in the firm.

Foreign exchange dealer Urs Schwarzenbach of Culham Court, Henley, who paid £39m for the Oxfordshire village of Hambleden in 2007, is 83rd with £740m. Lord Hambleden, heir to the WH Smith empire, who farms near Watlington, is at number 861 with £78m. Sir Anthony Bamford and family, of Daylesford, have £950m despite jobs cuts at their JCB empire. FromBlackwell book publishing and selling family are Nigel and family with £240m at 272th, and Chris at 808 with £80m.

Property developer Tony Gallagher, who bought Sarsden Manor, near Chipping Norton from former West Oxfordshire MP Shaun Woodward two years ago, is at 163 with £425m — £75m less than last year. At 27 th with £1,550m is Roddie Fleming and family of the banking dynasty, who last year sold 700 acres of Oxfordshire farmland.

Jan Hruska and Peter Lammer, founders of Abingdon computer security firm Sophos jointly appear 351st with £183m.

Former Headington School girl Emma Watson, 20, star of Harry Potter films, is tenth richest young person with £22m, while Beatles heirs Olivia and Dhani Harrison are 405th with £160m.
