Gig guy Matt Ayres on what our local bands are up to....

  • A gig on Saturday at the Hollybush Inn in Osney will raise money for the future of Wittstock Festival, an annual music event that raised nearly £2000 for local charities earlier this year. Music comes from theatrical noisemakers Agness Pike, melodic rockers Supremis and alternative songwriter Gemma Moss. Tickets cost £5 on the door.

Local metal heads Aethara top the line-up at Headbangers Balls, a night of heavy music at the O2 Academy that aims to raise awareness of testicular cancer. The decibel-smashing show takes place on Sunday evening – also on the bill are Reign of Fury, Divine Chaos and Furyborn. Tickets cost £11.25 from ticketweb.co.uk

  • A three-strong musical line-up featuring two Oxfordian acts takes place at the Wheatsheaf next Thursday. Bethany Weimers, pictured plays catchy alternative folk with dark undertones, while The August List are a boy-girl double act who play passionate rock & roll-edged country music. Also on the bill is Oliver Wilde, a multi-instrumentalist who creates atmospheric soundscapes with a range of lo-fi equipment. Tickets cost £5 from wegottickets.com
