• What was it like? I love Subway and we go there all the time. It’s great for teens because it’s fun – you get to choose your own toppings, and the subs are really filling which is perfect because I’m always hungry. Plus it’s quick and you don’t have to sit down if you don’t want to – you can take them home or eat as you walk.
  • How does it work? You queue up, choose your bread, select your main filling and then they add as many salad ingredients as you want for free. They have a great mix too; it’s not just boring vegetables but stuff like pickles (gherkins) and jalapenos as well, plus a sauce of your choice.

What did you have? I had the £5 footlong meal deal chicken tikka, which is a very long sub made with hearty Italian bread and chose to add lettuce, peppers, gherkins and sweet onion sauce.

  • Who did you eat with? My brother.
  • High points? Quick service, always open and the subs are individually made.
  • Low points? The venues aren’t very atmospheric and don’t entice you stay, which may be the point.
  • Would you go back? Definitely because they are delicious.
  • What did he have? Meatball marinara with hearty Italian and sweetcorn.
  • What did he think of the food? Delicious. We all love them, they are a family favourite.
  • Is it a good place to take on a date with a girl? Only if you’re on the move.
  • Marks out of ten? Eight.
  • Cost: The £5 meal deal covers 10 different footlong subs and any regular drink.
