To coincide with the new café and seasonal menu at Modern Art Oxford, two food films are being shown, Food by Gordon Matta-Clark and Eat Drink Man Woman by Ang Lee.

Food documents the legendary New York restaurant and artists’ cooperative Food, which opened in 1971. As a social space, meeting ground and ongoing art project, Food was a landmark of 1970s SoHo.

Tomorrow’s screening will be followed by a talk and tasting with Juliet Harbutt, a cheese expert who runs cheese company Evenlode Partnership with Blur’s Alex James. Juliet will discuss cheese, working with Alex and hold a tasting session, with glass of wine.

Eat Drink Man Woman will be screened on May 15.

  • Volcanic ash won’t be hampering the availability of English radishes, which are just coming into season.

Scientists have found that radishes are even healthier than strawberries and have similar anti-cancer properties to broccoli. Unlike many other exotic superfoods that have to be flown in, super-healthy English radishes are readily available.
