Lostprophets divide opinion like no other band.

They are capable of strutting the stage with glam rock attitude and have perfected the power chord as well as any decent metal racketeers.

But their pop credentials are undeniable.

It has been ten years since debut album ‘Fake Sound of Progress’ was launched and the band has morphed from a UK skate metal like mob into a stadium act.

Still their crowd is a mix of hardcore rock fans, Smash Hit teens and an older pack of toe tappers standing at the back.

Tonight is a warm up for a string of festival dates and their first show in almost a year and they are on safe ground.

Some of the crowd has been huddled outside the venue for 24 hours to seize a spot at the front barrier.

This is an opportunity to see a now colossal band in a cramped venue and almost every person inside is a devotee.

The band seems rusty.

They crash on to an aggressive new track before launching into a crowd pleasing set laden with hits.

Sound issues seem to blight the early numbers – no volume and seemingly no guitar.

But, this is a warm up, and that is exactly what Lostprophets do.

Soon we get the shout along tunes Last Train Home, Town Called Hypocrisy and Can’t Catch Tomorrow.

The sweaty lads get to bounce off each other with Burn, Burn sparking a particularly aggressive mosh.

We could do without the inteligible on-stage ‘banter’ while the band catches its breath.

However, it’s difficult to knock the ‘prophets. They do exactly what is says on the metal tin.
