PLEASE take 100 lines Mr Holloway for your letter (ViewPoints, November 29) . “The European Court did not stop the extradition of Abu Qatada”, it was the British Special Immigration Appeals Commission.

I’m personally against deporting anyone to a state that practises torture, whether that’s Jordan or the USA. As for Cameron holding up two fingers to the EU, I think he’s already been outdone. They are holding two fingers in their ears over his whining. If the UK is stupid enough to leave the EU they are free to do so. I think it takes one year’s notice, quicker if mutually agreed, which it probably would be.

As for prisoners being able to vote, the European Court of Human Rights ruled in 2005 that, while countries could decide which prisoners should be denied the right to vote, a universal ban was illegal. I’m against spending £5m or more because I believe the apathy shown by the public to politicians in general would be reflected in the prison population.
