WE KNOW this picture was taken in about 1965, in the Hagbourne Road area of Didcot, and with the first camera the photographer had owned. But who are the boys?

The person, who took the picture but hasn’t given us a name, has sent it to Memory Lane in the hope of identifying them.

He or she writes: “I was taking photographs of trees, cows and many other uninspiring things when along came these two young lads, obviously the best of mates.

“They cheekily asked if I would take their photograph, which I duly did. After all, in the mid-1960s, not everyone had cameras.

“I guess the two lads were seeking some immortality in a photograph, not that they were ever likely to see it – they didn’t know me and I didn’t know them.

“I recently found the photograph in a shoe box. The two lads would now be in their fifties – by publishing it, we might bring picture and those in it together.

“You might consider encouraging others to turn out some of their shoe boxes and send in photographs of a similar nature.”

Over to you? Can anyone identify the boys?
