ANDREW Potts caught the eye when he took part in a fancy dress competition at the Regal cinema in Cowley Road, Oxford, in 1969.
He is in the centre of the picture, dressed in a suit and boater covered in bingo cards, being inspected with other competitors by the judges, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, Alderman and Mrs Percy Bromley.
Andrew, of Knolles Road, Cowley, finished third behind his sister, Mandy, who came second dressed as a Circus Clown, and the winner, John Steel, who appeared as Games Boy.
The competition was organised for members of the ABC Minors who, as we have recalled, watched films at cinemas in Cowley Road and later in George Street every Saturday for 35 years until 1980.
