AN ELDERLY pedestrian broke both her legs and suffered serious facial injuries in a crash with a car in North Oxford.

Banbury Road was closed for about an hour and a half while police officers investigated the accident near Hernes Crescent at 4.40pm on Saturday.

Police said the 89-year-old woman, who lives in the local area, suffered facial fractures as well as breaking both legs in the collision with a Toyota Corolla. She was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Pc Tony Lee, of Thames Valley Police joint roads policing unit, said: “If you were in the area at the time and may have seen anything to do with this incident, we need to hear from you.

“While it was already dark when the incident happened, it was also a busy time on a late Saturday afternoon and there would have been lots of people about.”

The male driver of the Toyota was said to be shaken but unharmed.

Thames Valley Police yesterday refused to say how the pensioner was.

Witnesses can call police on 101.
