LONDON Welsh last night reassured Oxford United fans that the rugby club was not trying to buy out the Kassam Stadium on its own.
Chief executive Tony Copsey stressed the rugby club, which has played its home games at the Grenoble Road site since September, was not in position to buy the ground, and fully respected Oxford United.
Mr Copsey said: “We are not in advanced negotiations to buy the stadium and nor are we in the position to.
“It is premature at best. Our focus here and now is the next five months.
“There is no shadow of a doubt the Kassam Stadium is Oxford United’s stadium. Everyone recognises that.”
United chairman Ian Lenagan is looking for ideas from fans about how the club could buy the stadium.
