WORLD-CLASS scientists are letting out the secrets of their laboratories tomorrow.

NHS researchers at Oxford Biomedical Research Centre will be unveiling their latest work to the public at their annual open day.

Among the public will be Oxford’s double Olympic gold medallist rower Andrew Triggs Hodge, who will give a short speech at 2pm.

The open day from 12.30pm until 4.30pm will be held in the west wing atrium of the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington.

An example of the bionic eye transplanted for the first time last year into a previously completely blind Oxford woman will be on show.

Research assistant Leigh Wilkins said: “The public open day is great way for the research teams to show the public and patients what we do and for them to find out how they can help.”

The NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre is a partnership between the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Oxford funded by the National Institute for Health Research – funded by the Department of Health.
