I was taken back to being 18 years old when I saw the poster in your photograph of Carfax Tower advertising the events at the New Theatre in the Rewind feature of 1963.

As a fan of Edmund Hockridge I went to the show and asked for a photograph to be signed by him.

I was invited to go the following evening and meet him in his dressing room.

This was the start of a fantastic night – he invited me to watch the show from the wings. I listened to Winifred Atwell while standing and talking to her husband and met the other act, the Kuban Cossacks. This led to an invitation to join the Cossacks the following night to a midnight cabaret to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel – wow – I was on cloud nine. I travelled to London with them and had a great time.

Being one of their guests we were treated like royalty.

This was the evening Kennedy was assassinated, so difficult to forget what I was doing when that piece of history happened.
