Scientists from the Medical Research Council’s Oxfordshire bases helped celebrate their centenary birthday with a fun-filled day in Bonn Square on Saturday. Members of the public got the chance to hear about local research work and tackle some experiments themselves. Ella, 15, and Adam Ponting, 13, are pictured with Louise Tinsley from the MRC and a model of the DNA double helix. Mum Julie Walters, of Highfield Avenue, Headington, said: “It was really interesting for them to meet real scientists and see what they do every day.”
